A burning vagina can be so uncomfortable and painful you seek treatment as soon as you notice it. Vaginal burning is almost always a symptom of something else, whether it’s irritation, an infection, or something less common.

Vaginal infections

Vaginal infections like bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection sometimes cause burning as one of the symptoms. Infections result from an imbalance in vaginal conditions. For instance, bacterial vaginosis is caused by an overgrowth of the bacterium Gardnerella. Other symptoms of vaginal infections include an unpleasant smell and a change in discharge, along with other forms of irritation like itching and soreness. If you suspect you have a vaginal infection, see a doctor. Treating the infection will also relieve the burning.

Irritation

Most commonly, a burning vagina is a symptom of irritation. Irritation can be caused by many things. Usually the cause is right in your own home. Feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, cleansing wipes, or soaps that contain strong fragrances and dyes may irritate the vagina, because the chemicals used to make those products are too harsh for use on sensitive skin. That’s one thing they don’t warn you about on the label. If you find your vagina burning after using any of these products, switch to a plain, unscented variety. Douching can be another kind of vaginal irritant for much the same reason as the other products we discussed: harsh chemical ingredients. Using a douche also kills the healthy bacteria in your vagina, making you more likely to contract infections. If you feel like you have to douche, make a gentle homemade version using organic ingredients.

STDs

Sometimes a burning vagina is a sign of an STD. Symptoms of STDs vary widely because there are so many different kinds, but some common ones are itching, swelling, an unpleasant smell, and a change in discharge. Yellowish or greenish gray discharge in particular points to a sex-related infection. Regular STD testing will help decrease your chances of experience unpleasant STD symptoms. Always wear a condom during sex to prevent getting or spreading an STD.

Hormonal factors

Finally, a burning vagina can be caused by a change in hormones. During menopause, the vaginal walls tend to become a little thinner and drier, leading to forms of irritation like itching and burning. This can also be a problem during breastfeeding for some women. This problem will usually go away on its own as your hormones balance themselves out, but if the problem persists, there are hormone therapy options that will help your body regulate hormones better.

If a burning vagina lasts more than a few days after eliminating the source, it’s important to see a doctor to make sure you don’t have any more serious issues.

Burning is painful and can cause some complications if it goes on long enough, so get treatment for your burning vagina as soon as possible.

Gonorrhea is an STD which can be very difficult to diagnose, more so in women than men. This is mainly because of the fact that gonorrhea exhibits little to no symptoms in women, or it gets confused most of the time for a mild infection of the bladder, where in fact, the disease could infect a person’s throat, anus, urethra, and cervix. As many as 50% of the female victims infected with gonorrhea do not exhibit symptoms. Men show more symptoms of an infection than do women, and the intensity of the symptoms vary from person to person depending on how long ago one had contracted the STD.

The symptoms of gonorrhea usually appear between two to ten days after an infection, although the symptoms can take as long as thirty days before it manifests itself. The symptoms of gonorrhea vary according to the gender of the infected individual. For women, frequent urination often accompanied by pain, or bleeding after intercourse is a common symptom. Later symptoms are usually bleeding between periods, vomiting, fever, nausea and vaginal discharge usually with blood.

For males, frequent and painful urination as well as swollen testicles are the usual gonorrhea symptoms, which indicate an infection of the urethra. Penile discharge, usually white, yellow, or green, can be noticed; that, as well as redness and swelling of the glands in the groin are among the many symptoms.

Aside from the genitals, other parts of the body, such as the anus or the throat can also be infected. At the first sign of an anal infection, one may discern painful bowel movements, itching, discharge, and bloodied stools. In the case of an oral infection, sore throat, and the presence of a pus-like material on the back of the throat or tonsils are the usual symptoms. The infection can easily spread to other parts of the body, so treatment must be received as soon as possible.

If left untreated, gonorrhea can develop into a highly hazardous disease, with a variety of complications often with irreversible effects. This is more pronounced in women than in men. The most common complication is known as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), which infects 15% of women who have developed a cervical infection due to gonorrhea. The effect is that the bacteria travels from the cervix, into the uterus, and eventually up into the fallopian tubes. This puts a woman at risk for ectopic pregnancy, a dangerous occurrence in which the fertilized egg would grow and live outside the victim’s uterus, and usually imbeds itself and develops in the fallopian tube. Ectopic pregnancies are extremely dangerous.

In the case of men infected with gonorrhea, epididymitis, a painful condition of the testicles often leading to infertility, can occur if the infection is left untreated.

If you are displaying any symptom of gonorrhea, or believe that you have been exposed to an infected person, it is important to get tested for the probability of an infection as soon as possible in any private std clinic. People with gonorrhea are much more likely to contract Chlamydia or HIV (the AIDS virus). For pregnant women, it is highly encouraged to be checked for gonorrhea, since the infection can be passed on to the child.

Chat with other women about dealing with gonorrhea. Know more about its symptoms and treatment in some STD forum.

Gonorrhea Disease – Gonorrhea is an STD which can be very difficult to diagnose, more so in women than men. This is mainly because of the fact that gonorrhea exhibits little to no symptoms in women.

It can be very worrying for an individual if they discover a pimple on the their genitals, the first thought is often do I have herpes or some other sexually transmitted disease? Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are also common STD’S that may run through the mind. In this article we take a closer look at herpes and pimples as we answer the question does herpes look like pimples?

The first thing you need to realize about the skin around the genitals is that it reacts in the same ways as other parts of the body that have hair, for example a bearded face. Many people with facial hair develop the odd pimple as a result of the skin being aggravated in some way, whilst some individuals have more severe cases. The same can happen to the skin around the genitals, in fact the pimple may be even worse in regards to pain because there are several nerve endings on the genital skin.

When people develop pimples on the genitals many reach for anti- pimple products that contain harsh chemicals (such as acid), this is not recommended under any circumstances. The chemicals used in these products tend to cause a tingling sensation to the face, however the skin around the genitals is more sensitive and using these products can result in terrible pain.

As mentioned previously most people think they have an STD (like herpes) when pimples occur, and they may possibly be right because pimples can be a symptom of an STD. There is an even higher chance that the pimple is a symptom of an STD if it appears after unprotected sexual intercourse.

The symptoms of herpes include the appearance of pimple like bumps and blisters, whilst syphilis is also characterized by a genital skin rash that may consist of pimples.

Genital pimples are often confused with genital warts, because they do look alike, the difference is genital warts are permanent whilst pimples disappear after some time.

Let’s take a closer look at herpes and pimples. The symptoms of herpes may include the formation of bumps, but these are not pimples, they are actually blisters. If you do actually have herpes rather than just a pimple then more symptoms will occur such as flu like symptoms if it is the first time you have suffered a herpes attack.

If you notice a pimple or two in the pubic region it may not necessarily be caused by an std, they may be caused by blocked hair follicles, which is the same reason a bearded man can develop pimples on his face.

If other symptoms occur then you may have an STD and you should seek the advice of a doctor.

The conclusion of this article is some pimples can just be harmless and they will disappear in a short period of time, whilst some may be the symptoms of an STD. Educating yourself about the common symptoms of STD’s can help you distinguish between the two, but the best course of action is to speak to your doctor.

Herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in both men and women. Despite this, there are a huge percentage of undiagnosed cases when it comes to herpes primarily because of asymptomatic conditions in many carriers. People can go one for years without feeling any symptoms that might indicate a herpetic infection and this becomes a problem especially if they lead a sexually active lifestyle and engage in multiple partners. Late diagnosis of herpes because of this is fairly common normally when the herpes has spread or has cause considerable reproductive damage to the person carrying the virus.

Another consideration is the presence of symptoms but in the form of mild episodes that a person who carries Herpes does not assume it as being such. Some of these manifestations can be simple flu like symptoms such as headache, aching joints and fatigue.

For those people who actually experience pronounced STD symptoms can include swollen lymph nodes in the inguinal area which are often tender and may feel like enlarged peas on the surface of the skin upon examination. Sores can become present on the genital area, most often on both sides while painful urination, severe itching and pustulent discharges from the penis and vagina are also notable.

Herpetic sores normally begin as blisters that group in clusters. The blister stage doesn’t stay on for long and eventually break open to form ulcers on the skin’s mucous membrane with scabs and crust forming on top of the ulcer and eventually fall off healing the tissue. The prominence of sores in the cervical lining of women is evident as well as herpetic sores in the urethral passage for men. Once the infected cells slough off the inner cervical lining and penis, they cause a noticeable discharge and is a common std symptom for herpes. A new string of herpetic clump appears within a week after the first emergence has healed and lasts about two to three weeks of outbreak.

If a carrier has had previous exposure to oral herpes then chances are that antibodies present from the previous herpetic infection will cease the onset of symptomatic manifestations for the genital herpes. Sores may cover a smaller area and generalized symptoms may have a lesser occurrence, recovery and convalescence is also shortened.

It can be difficult to make a realistic diagnosis of a herpes infection by merely looking at the sores. Sores can have a different look and may be anything from a small crack or fissure to redness without the prominence of broken skin. Utilizing accurate STD testing when it comes to herpes is the most effective way of getting proper diagnosis. A culture swab of the sore by far is one of the most reliable and accurate STD testing processes for the detection and classification of herpes. A polymerase chain reaction or PCR which is similar to a culture can also be done but is more expensive than a traditional swab. To be sure about the type of herpes, using accurate STD testing in the form of a blood test may be recommended by a health practitioner from an STD clinic.

Disease like Chlamydia, Herpes and Hepatitis are a growing problem in the United States. High risk behaviors and lack of disease information and resources have had a profound effect on the spread of such diseases. Some of these diseases have little to no symptoms yet can be extremely harmful if not treated and can spread without knowing so. Getting proper education in dealing with such diseases can help you as an individual protect yourself from infection.

Chlamydia – Chlamydia is one of the most common STD’s today. Chlamydia is easily spread through sexual activities hence they are a sexually transmitted disease. Clamidia treatment is usually pretty easy and uncomplicated. Chlamydia can cause sterility in both men and women. At least three million individuals are infected with Chlamydia each year. Common symptoms of clamidia include: discharge from lower regions, painful urination, painful intercourse, abdominal pain, nausea, fever, swelling and bleeding from lower regions (specific symptoms for men or women). Symptoms usually occur with in 21 days of infection. Treatment of Chlamydia is usually taken care of with an antibiotic, usually doxycycline, taken for a week.

Herpes – Herpes is also an extremely common sexually transmitted disease. Most adults have some version of the disease. Many do not know they even have the herpies virus. Herpes is often associated with sores on the mouth (cold sores) and genitals (genital herpes). There is no cure for herpes however herpies symptoms and breakouts can be treated with medication prescribed by your doctor. Someone using these medications can lead break-out free lives. Generally, herpes is usually the most problematic during the first breakout and lessons with age.

Hepatitis – There are many versions of hepatitis. Hepatitus B for example can be prevented with a vaccination, other versions of hepatitis cannot. Hepatitis can be spread via sexual activity or by eating food handled improperly as a Food-Bourne illness. Hepatitis is a serious illness that affects the Liver and may cause jaundice. All symptoms associated with hepatitis should be directed to a medical professional for immediate treatment. Hepatitus can be very serious and it is important to get the facts and resources immediately for treatment. Other symptoms of hepatitis can include : extreme fatigue, headache, fever and hives. Hepatitus may be invisible during its most contagious stages.

Proper knowledge and safe practices can help you extremely reduce the risks of getting infected with a sexually transmitted disease. For more information on sexually transmitted diseases visit your local health department, your primary physician or a pregnancy resource center near you.

Is this an STD symptom?

Ok…my friend had unprotected sex with a girl he met at a club. Lets just say she was nasty. Tattoos on both breasts, stitches tattooed down her cleavage, tattoos on her pelvis, multiple piercings, etc. Just a really weird looking girl. I urged him not to take her back home with him, he didn't listen.

Anyway, 4 days after his sex incident he gets flu like symptoms. His throat hurts and feels kind of sick. I look down his throat today (8 days after contact) and he has 2-3 small white bubbles on the far rear side of his throat. Never seen anything like it. Is this a symptom of any STD?

Honestly, I've completely lost my respect after what he did with that girl. He refuses to get tested because he thinks it's expensive / embarrassed. In short – he's a college idiot.

Are swollen lips (on your mouth) a symptom of an STD?

back in may, part of my upper lip swelled up (REALLY huge – grotesque deformed status). then 4 weeks later, the same part of my lip swelled up. i took benadryl to reduce it (managed to work in a couple of hours). then 2 days later, my lower lip on the other side swelled up. that was the last time (a week ago). i could always feel it coming due to the sudden increase in weight of my lip.
i'm technically a virgin and had oral sex once last year in march. it was a drunk thing (NEVER done that in all the years of getting drunk…) & the guy screws a lot of girls so i'm worried.
i'm getting tested for it soon but i'm just freaking out. what do you think?

STD symptoms sores are really painful and you need to choose the proper medication and effective medical treatment to rescue your body from the attack of the sexually transmitted diseases. In actuality, there are different sorts of sexually transmitted diseases like Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, HPV, HIV and in severest case, AIDS. Basically, all the sexually transmitted diseases spread through various types of sexual contacts like oral sex, anal and sexual intercourse. You must have better conception about different STD symptoms sores which will deteriorate the condition of the sexual health if the proper medical care is not adopted in time.

These sores are really painful and long lasting. After surfacing the STD symptoms sores, your medical practitioners or the healthcare consultants will prescribe medications which will eliminate sores within short span of time. For example, cold sores are very common type of STD and very infectious. To be frank, cold sores/ fever blisters are found in the human body due to the onset of herpes simplex virus. It is very dangerous STD disease and you can be severely infected by cold sores through simple oral sex.

According to the doctors, when cold sores attack patients, herpes will be massively transmitted to lips, external sex organs and anus. If you feel that you have the cold sores, you need to talk to the healthcare consultants for getting effective treatment. You will suffer from pain and acute feeling of mental stress including fatigue. Basically, there is no specific treatment for the elimination of the herpes but you can consume some special medicines to suppress the spread of the herpes throughout the body.

These antiviral medications will give some relaxation and comfort to the patients. If you study a lot to know about different types of STD symptoms sores and their side effects, you will see that most of STD related sores and blisters are really painful and they will bring down the resistance capability of the human beings. Chancre sores are seen in the body of a patient at the earlier stage of the syphilis. The small and large sized blisters and sores are spread on the lips, face, tongue, sex organs and anus. These chancre sores are also found in areole of the nipples of the female breasts.

Generally these blisters are painless. The chancre sores or blisters are hard with rounded shapes. If you consume a single dosage of penicillin, chancre sores can be removed but you must opt for the penicillin within a year or less of the attack of the syphilis. If syphilis goes out of control, it will cause a number of physical discomfiture and disorders like paralysis and severe loss of vision. Finally, STD symptoms sores must be treated carefully at the primary level so that the chance of the destruction of the body due to the STD attack will be very low.

It is really dangerous to delay in treatment once you suspect having any form of sexually transmitted diseases. Right now, you need a quick and confidential STD testing right at a clinic near you.
